The Lobster Data Platform measures your licensed configuration scope in configuration items. How many configuration items are available to you depends on your license. The limit applies to the entire installation. It does not apply per module or per Client.
Which objects count
The following objects count as configuration items. Other objects do not count.
Object | How it counts |
|---|---|
Profile | One configuration item per profile, in every client. |
ETL/ELT pipeline | One configuration item per pipeline definition, in every client. |
Portal | One configuration item per portal. |
Input form | One configuration item per form definition. |
Datagrid | One configuration item per datagrid configuration. User-specific list settings do not count. |
MCP server tool | One configuration item per tool. |
REST API operation | One configuration item per operation. |
Containers and their parts
For REST APIs and MCP servers, the container itself does not count. The individual parts inside it count.
A REST API definition does not count. Every operation inside it counts.
An MCP server definition does not count. Every tool inside it counts.
IMPORTANT:
A REST API with 20 operations uses 20 configuration items. An MCP server with 8 tools uses 8 configuration items.
How counting works
An object counts as soon as it exists. It also counts when it is not in use.
A deactivated profile still counts.
An obsolete REST operation still counts.
Only deleting frees up a slot.
All clients share the same pool. An object in one client reduces the free slots for all others.
When the limit is reached
Existing configurations keep running. Processing does not stop.
You can no longer create new objects of the counted types. The platform checks imports and duplicates in advance. If the operation would exceed the limit, the platform rejects the operation.
Checking usage
In the top bar, click the bell icon. Under Licensed Configuration Items, you see the current count and the limit.
Below it, a bar shows how the count is distributed across object types. Hover over the bar. A tooltip then lists the count for each object type. See News.
Freeing up slots
Check the tooltip first. It shows which object type uses the most slots.
You then have two options.
Delete configuration items you no longer need.
Adjust your contract. Contact your Lobster representative to do this.
CAUTION:
Deactivating is not enough. Only deleting frees up a slot.
